The Community Dietitian & Vicky Dagnan

What even is a Dietitian?

I didn’t even know what a Dietitian was until I was about 26. No grand career plan, no childhood dream of analysing food labels. It all started when I was told I had gone through an early menopause, or Premature Ovarian Failure.

That diagnosis pushed me to learn more about my body than my GCSE Biology ever managed, and, somewhere between late-night Googling and trying to make sense of hormones, a real interest in nutrition started to grow.

Fast forward a little and I’m suddenly knee-deep in a 4 year Dietetics degree, thanks to some very persuasive and motivational colleagues.

Since then, my passion has only grown. I’ve worked across acute hospital wards, community services and most recently in GP practices, supporting people with everything from diabetes and heart health to gut issues and weight challenges.

What became really clear is that access to evidence based, easy to follow, and relevant dietary information was challenging. There is not the time or resources available in most services, and people simply aren’t getting the dietary support they need to manage everyday conditions that seriously impact quality of life, and that’s not their fault.

Dietitian, Nutritionist, Nutritional Therapist. Find out more about the different qualifications and Nutrition Titles here .

That’s why I created The Community Dietitian:

A space where people get timely, relevant, evidence-based support that actually fits real life. My work is about helping you understand your body, take control of your health, and make long-lasting changes without fad diets, shame, or advice from a random on social media.

I genuinely love what I do. Nothing makes me happier than helping people feel informed, confident and empowered to build the lifestyle that works for them.
